With Apologies To Buscema
So I've been sick for a while now, which means lots o' computer time. Also time to read through the big Sword of Conan trades I've been picking up. It really is amazing to see the arc of the first few issues (in terms of the art, the story gets templatey pretty quickly). The first few issues look fairly amateurish, accomplished but pretty rough around the edges, and then in issue four or so Frank Frazetta shows up and blows everything out of the water. Anyway. was feeling inspired, so I threw on my album of enemies' womens' lamentations and sketched this. All digital baby.
EDIT: The internet suggested I jack up the contrast between Conan and the background rocks, which I have now done.

Rotation Is A Man On The Run
I'm an unrepentant redditor at this point, as there's really no better way to waste time you shouldn't waste. So, about a week back a suggestion popped up in a drawing subreddit: that artists should be randomly assigned songs and then interpret them in whatever way they saw fit. I ended up with a song I liked quite a bit. I'd like to hope there wasn't any Avril Lavigne or anything in the mix, feel bad for someone who got that to work with. Anyway, my assigned song and the end result are both below.

It's St. Pat!
Huh, usually avoid drawing women on the train, because of the awkwardness of the whole 'staring intently' problem, but all ladies today.

I Didn't Do This
Nothing today, but here's some work to look at: Andrew G Schick and Massimo Carnivale. These are both, just, wowzers.

Mocking Funday
Well, an exciting weekend. Drinks were had. Then more drinks were had. Drawings were drunkenly half-finished. Things were not posted till Monday. Etcetera.
And here's one of many pages of drunken bar slatterns. These are all pretty gross.
And here's today's transit doodle.

The Risks Of Train Doodling
No train sketch today. While scanning the crowd at the State/Lake red line platform I was approached by a fairly respectable looking older gentleman, who I suppose had been watching me look around, and who planted himself about two feet from me before we had this exchange:
Crazy Asshole: Do you know me?
Myself: I don't think so, have we met?
CA: Do you know me?
Me: What?
CA: Do you know me!
Me: No! Jesus, calm down!
CA: Then don't fucking look at me. We understand each other?
All this as a multi-ton train rushes up to meet us. I can honestly say I have never been more concerned that someone was going to shove me onto the tracks. Needless to say, fear of stabbing threw me off my game a bit. So nothing today, but there is this interesting tidbit, courtesy of reddit:
Targeting the DMC-FX77 at girls, the latest Lumix has smart software that can airbrush pictures in-camera to remove wrinkles, whiten teeth and even apply make-up like blush and lipstick. Take a picture of your girlfriend and there’s no need to load up Photoshop later: you can turn her into a super model just with a couple of toggles.
The idea that our digital avatars will soon be more attractive than us in real time is, in some small way, reassuring. Like falling asleep in a snowstorm.
Anyway, read the full piece here, and more tomorrow.

March Is The Best Month
So, fun (ish) few weeks; I have a job now, working for [redacted], it's really [redacted]. Can't complain, as I had spent a year plus pining for a job (almost exactly this kind of job too) and now I've got that minimum wage money rolling in..
So, things are good, working on a commission right now (post it when it's done) and diving headfirst into the depths of reddit.
I found this in my files, don't think I've posted it yet....
